Stewardship: Living with Eternity in Mind
Making Every Moment Count for God
✨ Featured Scripture
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:10
The Reality of Life and Accountability
There is a common saying that many biographies shared at funerals are often exaggerated or not entirely true. People tend to highlight only the good, sometimes ignoring the reality of how a life was truly lived.
But one truth remains unchanging: God sees everything, and every life will be evaluated. As famously stated by Winston Churchill:
“History will be kind to me because I intend to write it.”
While humans may attempt to shape their legacy, our true record is written before God.
The Certainty of Judgment
Scripture makes it clear that life is temporary, but accountability is eternal.
“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” — Hebrews 9:27
“And I saw a great white throne… and the dead were judged…” — Revelation 20:11
Every individual will stand before God. This reality calls us to live intentionally and responsibly.
Understanding the Foundations of Faith
The Bible outlines foundational teachings known as the elementary doctrines of Christ. These principles remind us that our lives on earth are preparation for eternity:
- Repentance and faith in God
- Doctrine of baptisms
- Laying on of hands
- Resurrection of the dead
- Eternal judgment (Hebrews 6:1–2)
Two Types of Judgment
1. Judgment for the Unsaved (Revelation 20:11–15)
This is the Great White Throne Judgment, where those who have not accepted Christ will be judged.
2. Judgment for the Saved (Bema Seat) – 2 Corinthians 5:10
Believers will not be judged for condemnation but for rewards based on how they lived and served God.“Each one’s work will become clear…” (1 Corinthians 3:10–15). Our works will be tested, not for salvation, but for eternal reward.
What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is the understanding that everything we have—time, gifts, resources, and opportunities—belongs to God, and we are entrusted to manage them faithfully.
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another…” — 1 Peter 4:10
Life is not ownership, it is responsibility.
Three Things to Consider as a Steward
1. Live Each Day with Purpose and Urgency. “What is your life? It is even a vapor…”. Life is short and uncertain. We must not waste time but live with intentionality (James 4:13)
2. Put First Things First. “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Prioritize what truly matters, God, purpose, and eternal impact(Psalm 90:12).
3. Think About Eternity. Every action has eternal consequences. Wise stewards live with eternity in view (2 Corinthians 5:10).
Eternal Rewards: The Crowns of Faithfulness
God rewards those who serve Him faithfully. Scripture speaks of several crowns:
👑 1. The Soul Winner’s Crown. Given to those who lead others to Christ (1 Thessalonians 2:19)
👑 2. The Crown of Righteousness. Given to those who eagerly await Christ’s return and live righteously (2 Timothy 4:8)
👑 3. The Crown of Life. Given to those who endure trials and resist temptation (James 1:12)
Reflection: Are You a Faithful Steward?
Take a moment to reflect:
- Am I living with eternity in mind?
- Am I using my gifts and resources for God’s glory?
- Will my works stand the test at the judgment seat of Christ?
The life we live today is shaping the eternity we will experience tomorrow. God has entrusted each of us with a unique assignment. Our time, talents, and opportunities are not accidental—they are divine responsibilities.
Let us live as faithful stewards, knowing that one day we will stand before God—not to be condemned, but to give an account and receive our reward.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Teach us to be faithful stewards of all You have entrusted to us. Help us to live with purpose, wisdom, and eternity in mind. May our lives bring glory to You and produce eternal rewards. Strengthen us to remain faithful until the end.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
